-Daichiro Shinjo 新城大地郎 / アーティスト

1992年沖縄・宮古島生まれ。静岡文化芸術大学卒。
禅僧であり民俗学者でもある祖父を持ち、禅や仏教文化に親しみながら幼少期より書道を始める。
禅や沖縄の精神文化を背景に現代的で型に縛られない自由なスタイルで、伝統的な書に新たな光を当てている。オールドファッションな書道を飛び越え、形式にとらわれない軽やかで、身体性、空間性を伴ったコンテンポラリーな表現を追求する。

-Shusei Toko 床州生 /木彫作家

阿寒湖温泉育ちの木彫作家。アイヌ民族の木彫作家であり、阿寒湖アイヌコタンの劇団で演出家でもあった故 床ヌブリを父に持つ。札幌のデザイン学校卒業後、東京で就職。実家の店を継ぐために24歳で帰京した後、アイヌ古式舞踊などの伝統文化を学ぶ。その後、阿寒湖アイヌシアター「イコロ」の舞台監督を努め、2019年にはアイヌ舞踊とコンピュータグラフィックス(CG)を融合させた新しい演目阿寒ユーカラ「ロストカムイ」を上演。自身も踊り手の一人として出演する。

In 2022, Daichiro Shinjo stayed at Lake Akan in Hokkaido and collaborated with Shusei Toko, an Ainu wood carving artist in Akan. They offer a limited edition screen print of an artwork symbolizing Utasa Myahk for sale.

-Daichiro Shinjo ARTIST

BORN IN 1992-
Daichiro Shinjo is an artist modernizing traditional Japanese calligraphy shodō, pursuing unconventional light and contemporary expressions. Born in Miyako Island (Okinawa) he began shodō at the age of four and inherited the influences of Zen philosophy and Okinawan spiritual culture from his grandfather, a zen monk and revered folklorist in Japan. Daichiro graduated from the department of Space Design at Shizuoka University of Art and Culture, and currently resides and works from his studio in Miyako Island.

-Shusei Toko ARTIST

A wood carving artist raised in Akan-ko Onsen. The son of the late Toko Nuburi, an Ainu wood carving artist who was also a director in the theater troupe of the Akan-ko Ainu Kotan. After graduating from a design school in Sapporo, he found employment in Tokyo. He returned to his hometown at the age of 24 to take over the family store, and then studied traditional Ainu culture including ancient Ainu dances. Later, he served as the stage director for the Akan-ko Ainu Theater "Ikoro". In 2019, he staged a new performance called the Akan Yukar "Lost Kamuy," which fused Ainu dance with computer graphics (CG). He also performs as one of the dancers himself.
